The USAID Center for Education is responsible for advancing the vision of the USAID Education Policy: Partner country education systems enable all children and youth to acquire the education and skills needed to be productive members of society. The Vision, Principles and Priorities of the Policy are applicable across both stable and crisis and conflict-affected contexts, as well as formal and non-formal education settings.
The Senior Advisor sits in the Conflict, Crisis, Equity and Inclusion Division within the Center for Education at USAID, Washington. The Senior Advisor is part of a team of advisors focused on education in crisis and conflict (EiCC), and works collaboratively with colleagues specializing in foundational skills, youth and workforce development, higher education, monitoring, evaluation and learning, and locally-led development, among others. The Senior Advisor will be responsible for providing quality and evidence-based technical assistance to USAID programs in crisis and conflict contexts under the USAID Education Policy and the U.S. Government Strategy on International Basic Education, as mandated by the Reinforcing Education Accountability in Development (READ) Act. The Senior Advisor advises on innovative, results-focused and cost-effective approaches to designing, implementing, and monitoring education programs in contexts of crisis and conflict.
The Senior Advisor must be familiar with the relevant and current global education context, major stakeholders, and evolving policies and approaches. The Senior Advisor will apply and disseminate this knowledge through technical assistance, guidance documents, professional development offerings, as well as tools and knowledge products as needed. The Senior Advisor must be able and willing to coordinate and collaborate on a continual basis with other members of the Center for Education team and contribute to Center, Bureau, and Agency-wide priorities and initiatives as requested.
Finally, the Senior Advisor will serve as an activity manager, and/or subject matter expert to advance USAID’s technical excellence and impact in the area of education in crisis and conflict.
Work Schedule:Full-time, Hybrid (2-3 days in office)
Location:Washington D.C.
Starting Salary Range:Full salary range for this position is: $135,000.00 - $145,000 a year with the starting salary determined based on candidate’s knowledge, skills, experience, and education, in addition to budget availability.
Travel:Ability to travel both domestically and internationally, approximately 20% of the year
Clearance Required:Able to obtain a secret level clearance (US citizenship required)
