POSITION TITLE: Environmental, Health, & Safety (EHS) Manager FLSA STATUS: EXEMPT-SALARY LOCATION: MADISON, IL Luxfer Graphic Arts is the Global Leader in Magnesium Plate and Sheet Technology. We are a manufacturer and supplier of Graphic Arts products, as well as a manufacturer of magnesium sheets and plates. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES :
To be responsible for compliance with federal, state, and local regulations on air and water pollution, waste disposal, and chemical releases. Also, to be responsible for the health and safety of workers, comply with OSHA regulations, and direct related training programs.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: - Evaluates hazards within the facility for safety, health, and environmental risks.
- Develops health and safety procedures and programs for all departments and monitors safety compliance to reduce risks.
- Maintains contingency plans, including fire prevention, and procedures for controlling hazardous spills in accordance with government regulation and insurance company requirements.
- Supervises maintenance of material safety data sheets so they are always accessible according to regulations.
- Develops inspection policies and establishes regular inspection schedules.
- Supervises training sessions for emergency preparedness, confined spaces, electrical safety, machine guarding, fall protection, and forklift safety.
- Maintains EPA records of hazardous waste, air emission permitting, and water pollution discharge, as well as industrial health monitoring and records of employee hazard exposure according to OSHA regulations.
- Monitors professional literature and attends seminars to stay current with governmental compliance requirements.
- Oversees safety and workers' compensation programs, the accident investigation team, and directs correction actions as required.
- Has overall responsibility for filing of EPA, DOT, and OSHA reports as required
- Represents company in dealings with government officials enforcing environmental and safety regulations.
- Participates in the development of programs for the safe handling, storage, transport, and disposal of all regulated and non-regulated chemical, biohazardous, and radioactive materials.
- Monitors compliance through inspections, both scheduled and nonscheduled, spot checks of operations, and study of on-site records.
- A hands-on pro-active self-starter with a continuous improvement approach to safety is the ideal candidate.

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION: - Bachelor's degree in occupational safety and health, environmental science, or related subject.
- Master's degree or a professional designation like OHST, ASP, or CSP is desirable.
- Following certifications are a plus OSHA 10, OSHA 30, HAZWHOPER
- Three-Five years of management experience in the field as Safety Manager or Coordinator.
- Excellent skills in written and oral communication.
- Basic computer skills with both word processing and database applications.
- Ability to drive and inspect both outdoor and indoor areas to observe compliance with established programs.
- Knowledge of EHS related regulations, chemical and hazardous material management, and comprehensive safety programs.
- Three years of work with hazardous chemicals, including experience with handling and disposing of hazardous materials, knowledge of lab safety procedures, and thorough familiarity with government and facility safety regulations.
- Certification as a hazardous materials manager, senior level, by the Institute of Hazardous Materials Management is desirable but not required.
- Ability to conduct worker training—both classroom and field training with hazardous substances.
- Excellent managerial and organizational skills.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Travel 5%-Mostly to Luxfer owned sites.
- Experience with white phosphorus materials a plus.
